Solstice Notes from the Field

Ripe on the Farm this Week (your share may contain):

-head lettuce
-garlic scapes
-radishes
-salad mix
 arugula
- mint
-cooking greens (kale, collards, mustards, or chard)
- scallions
- peas

Down on the farm we’ve been planting like mad for the past two weeks getting all the summer crops into the ground, and this week the plantings are starting to slow down. But that means we are only a few weeks away from our first cucumbers and summer squash, and after that will come the tomatoes and eggplant and peppers. But closer on the horizon, in the next few weeks, you can expect your share to include beets and napa cabbage – carrots are on their way as well. For now, the share is green, but expect some color in July!

Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. (Henry James)
